Applies to: the Limitly – AI Credit Tracker Chrome extension, version 0.6.0 (the free version)
Limitly is published by Limitly LLC, an Oklahoma limited liability company ("we," "us"). This policy explains what the free Limitly Chrome extension (the "extension") handles and where that information goes.
1. The short version
- Everything stays on your computer. The extension keeps its data in your browser's local storage on your own device. It does not send your data to us or to anyone else. There is no Limitly server, no sync and no cloud backup in this version.
- We track how much AI you use, not what you say. The extension reads usage numbers, such as balances, credits and usage percentages, from supported AI websites. It never reads, stores or sends what you type, the AI's responses, or anything the AI creates.
- No account. You don't sign up or sign in to use Limitly.
- No ads, no selling, no tracking. The extension contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting code, and we don't sell or share any personal information.
2. What the extension stores on your device
When you visit a supported AI website, the extension reads only the usage figures shown on the page and saves:
- which AI service it is (ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Runway or OpenArt);
- balance and usage readings, such as remaining credits, the percentage of a usage window used, reset times and the plan label the site shows;
- whether tracking is working for each service ("reading" or "broken") and when you last visited it;
- the limits you set for yourself, and when you chose to continue past a soft limit; and
- random identifiers the extension creates on install to organize its local database. They aren't linked to your name, email or any account.
It doesn't collect prompt text, AI responses, generated images, video or files, conversation history, passwords, cookies, browsing history, or the contents of any website other than the usage figures above.
This data is kept in your browser's storage (IndexedDB and Chrome's local extension storage) on your computer. We can't see or access it.
3. Permissions the extension uses
- Site access to openart.ai, app.runwayml.com, claude.ai, chatgpt.com and grok.com only, to read usage figures and to show a notice when you reach a limit you set. The extension runs on no other websites.
- storage and unlimitedStorage to keep its usage database on your computer.
- alarms to refresh balances and reset times on a schedule.
